Why our culture deem it acceptable to wear torn jeans but not torn t-shirts?

A lot of importance is given to being presentable. Whats on top and in the front is seen before whats below and behind. So that could be one reason. Maybe thats why torn jeans are more tolerable than torn T-shirts. Dont discard your torn T-shirts just yet, I can see the fad of torn T-shirts and patched ones arriving soon!! There is hope for the torn T-shirt sanstha, Hirak!
Why should Jeans and TShirts be treated at par?? :-D
Torn socks too are also not acceptable; they are just easier to hide.
